Sukkari “Sweet Orange”

Sukari Sweet Orange

Citrus is one of the most popular and widely grown fruit crops in the world. Citrus and its products are a rich source of vitamins, minerals and dietary fibre that are essential for the overall nutritional well-being. Among the most commonly cultivated types, oranges account for more than half of world citrus production and are the most widely traded citrus fruit followed by tangerines, lemons and grapefruits. World citrus production and export have grown steadily over the past three decades, although at a slower pace than competing fruits such as mangoes, avocadoes and melons.

Sukkari Sweet orange is a type of citrus fruit that is grown in Egypt and is known for its exceptionally sweet flavor. “Sukkari” means “sugar” in Arabic, indicating the fruit’s high sugar content.

Sukkari Sweet oranges have a bright orange skin that is relatively thin and easy-to-peel. The flesh is juicy, sweet, and rich in flavor, with a low acidity level that makes it less tart than other citrus fruits. They are a good source of vitamin C and dietary fiber, as well as other vitamins and minerals.

Sukkari Sweet orange contains large amounts of potassium, which might help prevent high blood pressure and stroke. The fruit and juice also contain large amounts of a chemical called citrate, which might help prevent kidney stones. Citrate tends to bind with calcium before it can form a stone.

Available from December to the end of January.
